Keahey Selected as American Cheese Society Scholarship Recipient

April 26, 2016

Sweet Freedom Creamery is proud to announce that owner and cheesemaker, Jessica Keahey, has been selected as a recipient of the 2016 American Cheese Society (ACS) and American Cheese Education Foundation (ACEF) cheesemaker scholarship.  As a scholarship recipient, Keahey will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, in July to attend the 33rd annual American Cheese Society conference.

Every year, cheesemakers gather at the ACS conference to offer up their delicious creations for judging in more than 20 categories.  Among nearly 2,000 entries, the best in show are awarded at the annual Festival of Cheese for their achievements in flavor, aroma, texture, and appearance.

In addition to the cheese judging event, the conference offers technical workshops, tasting sessions, one-on-one mentoring, an FDA industry update, and tours of area creameries, as well as networking with 1,200 cheese and specialty food professionals.
